Shelbyville Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at the Chateau Apartments on the 800 block of S. Meridian St.
About 5:30 p.m. Monday, crews found smoke coming from a first-floor apartment with unknown occupancy status.
Firefighters quickly cleared all apartment units to ensure resident safety and were able to extinguish the fire promptly. One individual was displaced due to the fire and has since connected with local agencies for temporary housing assistance.
Crews operated under extremely high outdoor temperatures. There were no firefighter injuries.
During the incident, Edinburgh Fire Department assisted by handling additional emergency calls occurring at the same time.
Also assisting on scene were the Shelbyville Police Department and Shelby County 911 Dispatch.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
