With a November recommendation from the County Commissioners, the County Council approved a request from Marshall County Weights & Measures Inspector Jerry Huss to purchase new equipment for check fuel dispensers across the county.
Commissioner Stan Klotz and Huss appeared before the council and explained their request to purchase a Seraphin side access testing trailer with three 5-gallon provers and three 100-gallon storage tanks. The cost for the pull-behind trailer was $48,747.
Huss explained the process he has to go through to certify fuel at the local gas stations and the physical wear and tear on his body carrying the 5-gallon proof jugs filled with fuel across gas station lots.
The County Council unanimously approved the purchase.
Council members also approved an ordinance to close two dormant funds. The Child Advocacy Fund and Governor's Drug Free Indiana Fund have been inactive or dormant for several years. The Child Advocacy Fund has a cash balance of $2,335, and those funds will be transferred to the County General Fund, while the Governor’s Drug Free Indiana Fund cash balance is $952.81. Those funds will be transferred to the Drug Free Community Fund.
The Council approved the transfer of dormant funds by a 7-0 vote.
