Due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday, the Marshall County Drainage Board meeting and the County Commissioner’s meeting have been moved to Tuesday, January 21st. The Drainage Board meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. and the Commissioners meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m.
The Drainage Board has a lengthy agenda including the reorganization of the board, the appointment of an attorney and secretary along with appointments to the joint drainage board meetings.
Garrett Tharp is seeking a variance on the Emma Mishler Ditch in the Sarber Pine Creek watershed while Steve Miller is looking for a fence variance on the Harley Brock Ditch and Robert Goo wants to discuss the Emma Kuntz Ditch with the county drainage board.
Alan Young has submitted a petition for maintenance on the Gail Unsicker Ditch. The board will set a public hearing for the request. They will also decide which ditches will be put on the active and non-active collection lists for 2025.
The County Commissioners also have a big agenda for their meeting on Tuesday. They will discuss property and casualty insurance with Gibson Insurance, consider revisions to the employee benefit premium rate sheet, and get the annual update from the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation from Greg Hildebrand.
Sandy Dunfee, Administrator for the County Health Dept. will present a memorandum of understanding with The Ladybug Foundation and Dustin’s Place and ask the commissioners to consider a clinical affiliation agreement with Marian University.
Also on the agenda is the Highway Superintendent’s report, a chance for the public to comment, the attorney and auditor’s reports and under Commissioner Items an out-of-state travel request and additional board appointments.
Both the Drainage Board and Commissioners meetings are open to the public and are held in the second-floor meeting room of the County Building. They are also streamed live on the county’s YouTube channel which you can link to on the county’s website at www.co.marshall.in.us.
