The City of Shelbyville posted the following information related to tonight's Common Council meeting held at Breck Auditorium at Shelbyville High School. For the meeting, doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the meeting underway at 6 p.m. GIANT fm 96.5, 106.3, AM 1520 and giant.fm will carry the meeting live starting just before 6 p.m.
The City of Shelbyville has been made aware of a planned protest beginning at approximately 5 p.m. on Wednesday outside Shelbyville High School near the main entrance to Breck Auditorium (Door A1) ahead of the 6 p.m. meeting.
The City of Shelbyville and Shelbyville Central Schools respect the public’s right to peaceful demonstration. At the same time, the City and School Administration must ensure that all attendees are able to safely access the building and that emergency access routes remain clear.
To maintain safe access for all attendees, including individuals with disabilities, and to ensure emergency vehicle access if needed, individuals demonstrating are asked to observe the following:
Demonstrations must remain along the public sidewalk and away from the main entrance doors.
The circular drive and immediate entrance area must remain clear at all times for ADA accessibility and emergency access.
Attendees and demonstrators may not block walkways, entrances, ramps, or traffic lanes.
All individuals are expected to remain respectful and comply with lawful safety directions from event staff and law enforcement.
The City appreciates the community’s cooperation in maintaining a safe and orderly environment for everyone.
