A downtown business and a westside service organization were both granted Commercial Revitalization Rebate Program Grants during Monday night’s Plymouth City Council meeting.
Stephanie Thomas, Administrator of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge #741 in Plymouth, told the council they need to replace about a third of their roof over the oldest portion of the building at 1225 West Jefferson Street. The bid for the project was $22,902, and the council approved a 20% rebate, not to exceed $4,580.40.
Kip Cook made the second request for his building at 204 North Michigan Street. Cook said he will have been in business in that building for 35 years come January 2026, and 30 years ago, he put a roof on it. He is experiencing severe leaks in the rear of the building near the alley. The bid presented to the city council was for $40,448, and the council approved a 20% rebate, not to exceed $8,089.60.
Plymouth City Council members unanimously approved both commercial rebate grants.
