A driver couldn’t remember what happened after her car crashed into a Shelbyville home.
Just minutes after noon Saturday a car crashed into a home at 14 South Miller Street. Shelbyville Police report the driver, Yvonne Beaumont, 56, of Shelbyville, was disoriented and had no memory of what happened. Beaumont was eventually able to provide basic information like her name but didn’t remember any crash details. Beaumont was driving a Chevrolet Cruze.
As of the writing of the police report, it was unknown what medical ailments Beaumont had. Investigating officers note that no alcoholic containers, illegal drugs or medication were found. There was no smell of alcohol coming from the driver.
Christy Parrish is the homeowner and was inside in a different area of the home when the crash occurred. The home had severe damage to the walls, foundation, windows, ceiling and roof. The Shelbyville Fire Department gave approval to tow the car out of the home. The house was then roped off and a contractor was called to help secure the home that was open to the elements.
Another driver and witness to the incident told police that he was pulling into Hendricks Point Apartments when he saw Beaumont’s vehicle approaching at a high rate of speed. His passenger rear bumper was severely damaged by Beaumont’s car.
Shelbyville Police report camera footage was found at the intersection of Broadway and Miller Street where Beaumont’s vehicle struck a stop sign and cone.
