An investigation was sparked by a report of rape made to an officer with the Knox City Police Department on Saturday.
The case was immediately assigned to our Detective Bureau for further investigation.
As a result of the investigation, on Thursday, officers from the Knox City Police Department executed a search warrant at a residence at 302 N Roosevelt Road in Knox. During the operation, the suspect, Robert Merrill, was taken into custody without incident.
Merrill was transported to the Starke County Sheriff’s Office, where he is currently being held on preliminary charges of:
