The City of Shelbyville Plan Commission approved the site development plan for the Blue River Memorial Park Amphitheatre Monday night.
Justin Nicol, Development and Preconstruction Director for Runnebohm Construction, presented the site development plan that has already passed technical review and received two variances from the Board of Zoning Appeals.
The amphitheatre will include a main stage building as well as restroom and vendor outbuildings. The project also includes paved drives, additional parking and sidewalks.
”We aim for this amphitheatre to serve as a long term community asset within the park fitting both the character and functional needs as identified in collaboration with the parks department,” said Nicol.
No timeline for the completion of the project was discussed. A ground breaking ceremony was held earlier this year.
The December Plan Commission meeting will be held Dec. 17.
