An Akron man is scheduled for an initial court hearing this week after crashing a vehicle while fleeing law enforcement.
A Fulton County Sheriff’s deputy was traveling on SR 25 in Rochester on January 6. The deputy clocked a southbound vehicle at 122 mph. The deputy activated his emergency lights to perform a traffic stop but the suspect vehicle kept going at speeds over 100 mph.
The suspect vehicle continued into Cass County where it crashed into another vehicle. The driver, Jason Brown, 19, was taken into custody at that point. He was transported to Parkview Hospital in Logansport.
The law enforcement report states that THC vapes were found on Brown and that he told officers that he smoked marijuana and drank Jack Daniels.
The driver of the vehicle that Brown struck was also taken to Parkview for medical treatment.
Brown faces several felony charges including resisting law enforcement and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, along with several misdemeanors like operating while intoxicated.
