Adopt a duck to help the M.C. Neighborhood Center

The Marshall County Neighborhood Center is preparing for its second annual “Quack Out Hunger: A Duck Race.” This year’s event will be held on Friday, August 2nd in conjunction with the Mayor’s Summer of Music.

Quack Out Hunger sends a couple of thousand adopted rubber ducks racing down the Yellow River toward the finish line.

Individuals can adopt a duck for as little as $5 each. You can also purchase a pack of Wonky Waddlers which is 6 ducks for $25, a Quack Pack of 15 ducks for $60, or a Flock of 30 ducks for $100. This year the Neighborhood Center is also offering sponsorships for the event. A Duckling Sponsor is $250 and includes your name on the banner and promotional material along with 50 ducks. A Paddling Duck Sponsor is $500 and includes your name on the banner and promotional material along with 75 ducks. The Top Duck sponsorship is $1,000 including the banner and promotional material along with a sponsor T-shirt and a golden duck to display at your business.

There are prizes for the first, second, and third ducks to cross the finish but the real winner is the Neighborhood Center. Proceeds from the Quack Out Hunger duck race benefit the food pantry.

Executive Director of the Neighborhood, Chris Garner said, “This is a fun way to come together as a community!” She said donations to the pantry have been down and while some of their regular donors have remained faithful purchasing power has declined with inflation.
