Jayden McGuire’s goal midway through the second half proved enough for Southwestern to secure a 2-1 win over Brown County Thursday.
McGuire’s goal with 22:52 left in the second half came off an assist from Dusty Stevens.
Landon Drake’s second goal of the season in the first 10 minutes staked the Spartans to a 1-0 lead.
Kolton Moreno scored early in the second half to get the Eagles back even in the Mid-Hoosier Conference contest.
The Spartans improved to 2-1-1 (2-0 MHC).
Brown County fell to 1-2 (0-2 MHC).

At Salt Creek Golf Course, Cami Keaton was the medalist with a 57 and led Brown County to the win over the Spartans.
Kaylee Pike led Southwestern with a 64.

At Morristown, Phillipe Douce’s second-half goal was all the Jets needed to secure the Mid-Hoosier Conference victory.
Hauser improved to 4-0 (2-0 MHC).
Morristown dropped to 1-4-1 (0-2 MHC).
Beech Grove 1, Triton Central 0
At Triton Central, Anthony Garcia scored a first-half goal off a Courage Magwizi assist and Oseas Melendez finished the shutout with five saves.
The Hornets improved to 2-1 (1-1 HLC).
The Tigers dropped to 1-3-1 (1-1 HLC).
Boys tennis
Triton Central 5, Southwestern 0
At Southwestern, the Tigers lost just six games while sweeping the Spartans.
Brayden Hoover and Bradyn Robinson won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles. Southwestern forfeited at No. 3 singles.
At No. 1 doubles, Colton Ayres and Graham Gast blanked Kentley Gosser and Ryder Scott, 6-0, 6-0.
Owen Rice and Cash Eck secured a 6-2, 6-3 win over Jesse Wilkens and Gavin Shuppert at No. 2 doubles.
Triton Central improved to 6-1.
Mt. Vernon 3, Shelbyville 2
At Mt. Vernon, the host Marauders won a three-set match at No. 1 doubles to finish off the Golden Bears (1-4).
At No. 1 doubles, Luke Guerre and Wyatt Erdos defeated Jack Van Wye and Cooper Reed, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.
Mt. Vernon also won at No. 1 singles and No. 3 singles.
At No. 2 singles, Shelbyville’s Bram Kolkmeier topped Preston Douglas, 6-3, 6-2.
And Owen Shively and Grant Tackett bested Mt. Vernon’s Xavier Stewart and Gavin Hofer, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
Volleyball
Shelbyville def. Southwestern, 25-5, 25-14, 25-8
At Shelbyville, Jordyn Noe and Lyla Wilson combined for 29 kills to push the Golden Bears’ record to 4-1 this season.
Setter Addy Marshall racked up 35 assists. Addison Wooten had a team-high eight digs.
Jac-Cen-Del def. Waldron, 25-20, 25-14, 25-22
At Waldron, Maleah Williams led the host Mohawks in the loss with 10 kills.
Abby Crouch and Ashlyn Ramsey combined for 18 assists. Ramsey also had a team-high 12 digs.
Waldron hosts Crothersville Saturday morning.
