Shelbyville completed a two-game sweep of Yorktown Friday to move into sole possession of first place in the Hoosier Heritage Conference standings.
The Golden Bears scored four runs in the top of the fourth to take control of the conference contest and went on to secure a 7-2 victory over the Tigers (8-11, 3-9 HHC).
Reece Prickett earned the win for Shelbyville (13-3, 8-2 HHC), pitching into the fifth inning, allowing four hits, one walk and two runs before being relieved by Gavin Reed who closed out the victory. Reed allowed one hit and no runs in the final 2.2 innings.
Austin Martzall had a double and a home run, scored three runs and drove in two to lead the Shelbyville offense. Aiden Smith had two hits including a triple and scores twice. Reed had two hits and three runs batted in.
Shelbyville opened the HHC series Wednesday at Barnett Field with a 10-0 victory.

Aiden Smith collected the win with a six-inning shutout. He allowed one hit and one walk while striking out 11. The senior also had a double and a home run in the win to break the program record for career home runs with 18, surpassing the previous record set by Logan Young.
Brayden Smith had three hits. Martzall had two hits and scored two runs.
The Golden Bears have a one game lead on Greenfield-Central (13-8, 7-3) and Pendleton Heights (12-6, 7-3) in the HHC standings with two series left on the schedule. The Golden Bears face New Castle (5-12, 1-8) this week before closing out its final HHC series against Greenfield-Central.

At Mooresville Saturday, Shelbyville’s two seniors, Sydney Brown and Hailey Maulden, each had three hits to help the Golden Bears get back to .500 at 10-10.
Maulden scored a run and drove in a run. Brown had two runs batted in.
Addison Wooten had two hits and scored three runs. Lexi Rogers had two hits and scored two runs.
June Murdick went the distance, allowing eight hits and six runs (only two were earned). She struck out six.
Shelbyville hosts potential sectional opponent Roncalli (16-3) Tuesday. The Royals are ranked No. 4 in Class 3A.
