Shelbyville raced out to a 26-2 lead after one quarter and cruised to a 61-20 win Tuesday at Speedway.
Savannah Collins (photo) led the Golden Bears (2-1) with 17 points, eight steals and six assists. Hannah Baker also scored 17 in the win. Jayla Ash finished with 12.
Shelbyville’s lead over the Sparkplugs (2-1) — a future Hoosier Legends Conference rival — grew to 39-8 at halftime and 52-12 after three quarters.
Madelynn Matelic led Speedway with six points, eight rebounds and six steals. Hayli Clampitt also scored six points.
Shelbyville won the junior varsity game, 50-28, to improve to 2-1 this season.
Shelbyville hosts Southwestern (0-4) Friday.
In other girls basketball games Tuesday:

Union County 51, Morristown 17
At Morristown, the visiting Patriots built a 29-9 lead by halftime then extended the lead to 45-13 after three quarters to secure the victory.
Union County improved to 3-1 this season. Morristown dropped to 1-3.
The Yellow Jackets host Milan (0-5) Thursday.

Waldron 52, Brown County 19
At Brown County, three Mohawks scored in double digits to get their team its second win this season.
Grace Fischer had 19 points. Emerson Lindsey finished with 14 and Brooklyn Milbourn scored 11 to get Waldron to 2-1.
Chloe Polling led the Eagles with eight points.
Brown County, who will join the Mid-Hoosier Conference in 2026, dropped to 0-5.
Waldron opens its MHC schedule Friday at home against Hauser (3-1).
