Prep Report: Addis hat trick leads Shelbyville to win over Batesville

Logan Addis scored three goals, including the game winner, to lead Shelbyville boys soccer to a 4-3 win Monday over Batesville.

Addis (graphic) opened the scoring early in the first half off a Chris Ricardo assist.

Batesville responded later in the half to tie the contest then took the lead in the second half.

The last 10 minutes saw plenty of action.

Tonny Avila scored to tie the match at 2-all. Addis tallied his second goal to give Shelbyville the lead and then he finished the hat trick with a breakaway goal late in the half.

Batesville added a late goal on a free kick. The Bulldogs dropped to 4-5.

Corbin Martin was credited with four saves in goal to preserve the win.

Shelbyville improved to 4-7 this season and avenged a 1-0 loss to Batesville on Aug. 29.

Girls golf

Speedway 204, Shelbyville 206, Lebanon 213

At Brickyard Crossing, Shelbyville’s Julie Garrison carded a 43 to earn the medalist honor.

Also competing for the Golden Bears were Sophia Bragg (53), Harper Adams (55), Maddie Clapp (55) and Lilly Huesman (60).

Columbus North 220, Southwestern Inc.

At Harrison Lake, Bryn Emmitt and Harper Andersen each shot 51 to lead Columbus North to the win.

Kaylee Pike led Southwestern with a 57.

Girls soccer

Shelbyville 9, Beech Grove 0

At Shelbyville, six different Golden Bears scored in the Hoosier Legends Conference contest.

Chloe Higdon scored three goals to lead Shelbyville (6-4, 4-2 HLC). Brigid McKenney scored twice and Amara Lewis, Camille Chaney, Nevaeh Cole and Adrianna St. Bernard each found the back of the net.

Chaney had assists on five Shelbyville goals. Ava Van Wye also had an assist.

Beech Grove fell to 5-6 overall and 2-4 against HLC opponents.

Franklin 7, Triton Central 1

At Franklin, the Grizzlies built a 3-1lead by halftime then scored four second-half goals to secure the win over the Tigers (5-5).

Layla McKee scored Triton Central’s only goal off a Rylee Pruitt assist.

Franklin improved to 6-4.

Boys tennis

Shelbyville 5, Beech Grove 0

At Shelbyville, the Golden Bears remained atop the HLC standings with a sweep of the Hornets without losing a point.

All five matches ended 6-0, 6-0.

Kashton Laycock, Bram Kolkmeier and Kody Sellers won singles matches for Shelbyville (9-5, 4-0 HLC).

Jack Van Wye and Cooper Reed improved to 9-5 at No. 1 doubles. Owen Shively and Grant Tackett pushed their No. 2 doubles record to 11-3.

Greenfield-Central 4, Waldron 1

At Greenfield-Central, Waldron’s lone win came at No. 2 singles where Lincoln Fischer defeated Nash Berty, 6-1, 6-1.

At No. 1 singles, Nathan Roberts bested Waldron’s Charlie Fischer, 6-1, 6-1.

Raleigh Gantt was victorious at No. 3 singles with a 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over Noah Leap.

At No. 1 doubles, Jacob Welch and Andrew White topped Jackson Kuhn and Caige Sheaffer, 7-5, 7-5.

Kayden Green and Jack Herrin completed the doubles sweep with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over Wyatt Armstrong and Owen Hartman.
