The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) announced that the league has signed an agreement with the Greater Kokomo Visitors Bureau and Kokomo High School to serve as the home of the HCAC Softball Championship through 2028.
Completed in 2023, the multi-million dollar Kokomo High School softball facility features a new artificial surface, two indoor batting tunnels, updated dugouts, and a new press box.
“Today is a really special day for the softball teams in the HCAC and for the league as a whole,” said HCAC Commissioner Jay Jones. “Our successful partnership with Kokomo for our baseball championships led us to desire additional opportunities in the city for other HCAC events.
“The softball facility is truly spectacular, so moving our softball championships to Kokomo and hosting it on the same weekend that we are across town at baseball, provides a really exciting weekend of HCAC games for the local community. The softball complex also guarantees that our student-athletes will be provided an outstanding championship experience.”
As Jones notes, this agreement expands on the partnership between the HCAC and the Greater Kokomo Visitors Bureau which dates back to 2022 when the HCAC Baseball Championship moved into Kokomo Municipal Stadium.
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference and to welcome the HCAC Softball Championship to Kokomo for the first time in 2026,” said Sherry Matlock, manager of the Greater Kokomo Visitors Bureau. “The development of new sports assets in our community allows us to expand championship-level hosting beyond baseball and into softball, while delivering a meaningful economic impact to our local hotels, restaurants, and shops. We look forward to welcoming student-athletes, coaches, and fans and continuing this valued partnership with the HCAC.”
The 2026 HCAC Softball Championship is scheduled to take place Thursday-Sunday, May 7-10. The top six teams at the end of the regular season will qualify for the double-elimination tournament with the winner earning the league’s automatic qualifier into the 2026 NCAA Division III Softball Championship.
