Junior high wrestling advances 9 to sectional

It was a solid weekend for the Parkview (Lawrence County) wrestling Braves as they hosted the 6-team IESA Class 1A Regional 16 Tournament at  Lawrenceville High School Saturday.

Vandalia won the team title with 319.5 points, the Braves were second with 189, Murphysboro third with 160.5 and Fairview Heights fourth with 129.5. Shelbyville Moulton and Taylorville were also in the field.

9 local wrestlers have qualified for the sectional at Vandalia. Qualifiers must finish third or above to advance.
