A new chapter in the Kokomo High School athletic program is now set as Eric Dill has been named the 17th head coach prior to the 84th season of Wildkat baseball.

Dill takes over a squad that will enter the 2026 campaign as the defending North Central Conference champions.

“We are excited to welcome Eric as our next head coach at Kokomo High School,” said KHS Athletic Director Nick Sale. “His experience at the high school and summer travel level brings valuable expertise to this position.”

Dill, a 1992 graduate of Victory Christian Academy in Kokomo, returns to the Wildkat program after spending six years as an assistant coach from 2012-2018, including four years as a varsity assistant. The Kats won an NCC title during his final year at Kokomo before he spent one season as a varsity assistant at Taylor High School. For the last three years he has been a varsity assistant and the junior varsity gold head coach at Carmel High School.

Kokomo Principal Angela Blessing is excited to have Dill rejoin the Wildkat family.

“Being a Kokomo native and having close ties to KHS, Coach Dill understands the rich history of the Wildkat baseball program,” she said. “I can’t wait to see what he brings to the program to continue and add to the legacy of the defending conference champions.”

Dill takes over a program that was 17-11 a year ago and earned the team’s 14th NCC title. One of his major goals will be ending Kokomo’s 15-year sectional championship drought.

“It’s good to be back at Kokomo High School,” Dill said. “I am excited to help build a sustainablebaseball program that honors the strong traditions of the past while laying the foundation for future success.”

Dill, who attended Anderson University and was a head coach in the successful Indiana Nitro program from 2012-2020, is married to Shannon, a 1991 Kokomo graduate. They have two children: Jared, a 2015 KHS graduate who played baseball and soccer; and Brooke, a 2017 KHS graduate who played soccer and swam.

The Wildkat baseball program was formed in 1940 under coach Alfred Campbell. Since then, Kokomo has a record of 1,072 wins, 756 losses and seven ties. The Kats won an IHSAA state championship in 1985 and finished as state runners-up in 1988 and 2007. Kokomo has 13 sectional and five regional titles, and the program produced 20 Indiana All-Stars, including Isaac Flamino last season. Six former Wildkats have played in Major League Baseball, including current Athletics pitcher Jack Perkins.
