The Newton Eagles came from 2 runs down in the late innings and rallied to walk off the Lawrenceville Baseball Indians 3-2 in 8 innings in a rescheduled Little Illini Conference (LIC) game Tuesday at Newton. The game was scoreless until a 2 RBI double by Emery Ivers in the top of the 5th put the Indians ahead 2-0. The Eagles tied the contest at 2 in the bottom of the 6th on a single and two errors. It remained tied until the bottom of the eighth when a hit, walk, passed ball, intentional walk and a RBI single won the game for Newton. Emery Ivers (4-3) took the loss in relief of starter Landon Sanders who allowed no runs in 7 innings with a no decision. Ivers was touched for 1 run in 1/3rd of an inning, 2 hits and 2 walks. Neilan Bickers and Sanders each had 2 hits for the Indians. With the loss, the Indians drop to 12-10-1 on the season and will be back in action Thursday at Olney.
