Marian University women’s basketball advanced to the NAIA National Championship Game Monday with a 62-54 win over Dakota Wesleyan.
It is the Knights’ first championship game appearance since 2017.
Triton Central graduate Olivia Faust (photo) finished with nine points and two rebounds for Marian, who improved to 34-2 this season.
Marian will face Dordt (34-2) tonight at 8 p.m. (EST). Dordt is making its third straight national championship game appearance and fourth in the last five seasons.
Marian defeated Shawnee State University Friday, 101-57. Faust had five points, four rebounds and one assist in the Knights’ opener in Sioux City, Iowa.
The Knights eliminated Campbellsville University Saturday, 73-43. Faust finished with seven points, one rebound, one assist and one block.
Here is a look at other Shelby County graduates competing at the collegiate level.

Kylee Edwards
The Shelbyville graduate had three hits, including a two-run home run, and drove in four runs for LSU Friday in a 6-5, 12-inning loss at South Carolina. Edwards finished a double short of the cycle.
Edwards produced her sixth multi-hit game of the year Saturday in LSU’s 5-1 win at South Carolina. She had a walk, a double and stole a base.
LSU secured the SEC series win Sunday with a 2-1 win over the Gamecocks.
LSU improved to 21-10 (3-6 SEC).

Karissa Hamilton
The Shelbyville graduate had a grand slam Wednesday in Kentucky’s 9-2 win at Houston.
Texas A&M swept a three-game series from the Wildcats over the weekend. Hamilton had a two-run home run Sunday in Kentucky’s 9-6 loss.
The Wildcats are 20-12 (1-8 SEC).

Cheyenne Eads
The Shelbyville graduate suffered her first loss of the season Saturday in a 6-3 loss at home to William Jewell. Eads pitched four innings and allowed six hits and three walks while striking out five. She allowed all six runs but only one were earned.
Eads had a double and drove in two runs in the second game of the doubleheader Saturday to help the University of Indianapolis take a 9-1 victory.
Eads improved to 13-1 for the Greyhounds Sunday with a complete game shutout of Rockhurst. She allowed four hits and struck out five in the first of two games.
In the second game, Eads blasted a 2-run home run and drove in three in an 11-3 win.
The Greyhounds, ranked No. 9 nationally, are 26-2.


Kali Laycock and Brooke Lipperd
Laycock, a Shelbyville graduate, had two hits, including a double, and drove in a run Sunday for Franklin College in an 8-5 win over Olivet that completed a doubleheader sweep.
Lipperd also had two hits in the win and a walk.
On Saturday, Lipperd had a single, a walk, stole a base and drove in a run in Franklin’s 12-6 win over Adrian.
Franklin is 8-2 this season.

Lillian Fillippinie
The Triton Central graduate earned her first collegiate save Friday in Muskingum’s 7-6 win in eight innings at Denison. She had a double and scored a run and pitched the final inning to secure the win.
On Saturday, Muskingum lost 13-12 at Heidelberg. Fillippinie had a double and scored a run. She also pitched one inning in the loss.
Muskingum is 12-2 this season.

Jayda McKee
The Triton Central graduate had a single and a walk Friday in Anderson’s 3-2 win in eight innings over Calvin.
The Ravens are 3-11 this season.

Jake Garrison
The Shelbyville graduate finished tied for 35th at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate tournament this past weekend at the Terre Haute Country Club.
Playing for Franklin College, Garrison posted round of 75 and 76 for a two-day total of 151 (+9).

Brayden Basey
The Shelbyville graduate delivered a solo home run for Christian Brothers baseball in a 14-3 loss at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee.
Basey drove in two of his team’s three runs in the loss. Christian Brothers is 6-22 this season.

Bryce Haney
The Triton Central graduate pitched 5.1 innings of relief Saturday for Wabash baseball in an 8-3 loss to Adrian College.
Haney allowed six hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out three for Wabash (5-11).

Corbin Deck
The Shelbyville graduate had one kill, one service ace, two blocks and four digs Wednesday in Franklin College’s 25-18, 25-19m 26-24 loss to Spalding.
On Friday, Deck collected six kills, two assists, three blocks and six digs in a 25-14, 25-22, 25-14 loss to Wabash.
Franklin is 5-18 this season.

Avram Rund
The Triton Central graduate lost a pair of singles matches for Franklin College against Anderson and Rose-Hulman.
On Saturday, Anderson defeated Franklin, 7-0. Rund was defeated at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-1, by Santiago Terbonati.
Rose-Hulman topped Franklin, 7-0, on Sunday. Matthew Hydrick defeated Run, 7-6 (6), 6-1, at No. 6 singles.
Track and field
Franklin College competed in the Early Bird Invitational Saturday at Rose-Hulman in Terre Haute. Three Shelbyville graduates and a Triton Central graduate competed for Franklin.

TC graduate Brayden Wilkins finished third in the 100 meters in 11.07 seconds.

Logan Page, a Shelbyville graduate, placed 19th in the 100 meters in 11.54.

Shelbyville graduate Christian Powell finished seventh in the 400 in 52.12. He also helped Franklin to a sixth-place finish in the 1,600 relay (3:45.96).

Blake Hughes, a Shelbyville graduate, finished eighth in the 400 (52.6) and was part of the Grizzlies’ first-place finish in the 1,600 relay (3:23.56).

Madalyn Hudnall
The Waldron graduate finished 14th in the discus (34.44 meters) and sixth in the javelin (35.62) for Mount St. Joseph Friday in the Blizzard Buster track and field event at Miami (Ohio).
