BASEBALL INDIAN OPENER ENDS IN TIE

The Lawrenceville Baseball Indians opened their 2024 home season at Unit 20 Ballpark Thursday afternoon and did not lose. But they did not win either. The game between the Indians and the Flora Wolves ended in a 1-1 tie called after eight innings due to lighting and impending storms. The Tribe took the lead in the bottom of the first on a Neilan Bickers RBI hit and Flora tied the game in the top of the fourth on a RBI double. That was all the scoring. The Indians did have a couple of chances to break the tie in the bottom of the fourth and in the bottom of the eighth but could not get the big hit. Flora scored 1 run on 5 hits and made 1 error while the Indians scored 1 run on 6 hits with 2 errors. Bickers and Landon Sanders each had 2 hits on the day. Boston Gray pitched well for the Indians as he went 5 innings allowing 1 run, 3 hits, 3 strikeouts and 3 walks. Landon Sanders pitched 3 innings of scoreless relief wriggling out of a jam in the 7th. He gave up no runs, 2 hits, 6 strikeouts and 1 walk. The Indians finish their first week of play at 2-0-1 and will next see action Monday at Mt Carmel.
