It was a good weekend for the Lawrenceville Indians, notching two tough wins back-to-back.
Friday, the Indians ran their record to 2-0 in the Little Illini Conference (LIC) with a 58-44 victory over the Marshall Lions at Lawrenceville. Three scored in double digits to lead the Tribe. Zander Cessna had 18, Noah Wilson 15 and Jayden Goff 12 to move the squad to 10-0 on the season.
Saturday, the Indians traveled to Washington, Indiana, to take part in the 2025 Darrell Deem Classic at the Bird Cage, home of the Washington Catholic Cardinals and were 60-54 winners in a tough, physical battle with Christel House, a charter school in the Indianapolis area. Goff led the way with a double-double,18 points and 11 rebounds, Jacek Mickiewicz added 15, Cessna 14 and Wilson 10 as the Indians ran their record to 11-0.
The Indians are now idle until after the Christmas holiday. They will see action in the first round of the Effingham-Teutopolis Christmas Classic tournament. The Indians will face DIxon on Dec. 29 at 3 p.m. at Effingham High School.
