Traci Polston, 62, of Shelbyville

Traci Polston62, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, April 10, at Franciscan St. Francis Hospital, Indianapolis.

Traci was born April 29, 1963, in Zanesville, Ohio to Kenneth Dovenbarger and Karen Hall, and lived the first part of her life in Pleasant Valley, OH. Traci graduated from Coshocton High School in Coshocton, OH, in 1981.

Traci was known for her faith in Jesus Christ, to whom her family knows she returned in complete and utter joy last Friday, though she left our presence unexpectedly during a medical crisis related to a long cancer journey. Traci was known for her open-hearted communication, her laughter, (great-grand) motherhood skills, accounting acumen, cottage home businesses, and ability to feed everybody present and even many not present. Traci especially enjoyed being a spirit-filled worship leader and attending retreats with other women and parents. She will be remembered by her children for instilling the ability to be selfless and kind, humble and patient, and an involved and interested parent.

Traci is survived by husband, Scott, whom she met in 1980 and married Sept. 27, 1986, and their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her mother, siblings, and many in-laws. Her children are Phillip Scott Polston III, Charleston, WV; Vincent, Shelbyville, IN; Brittani (Nicholas) Stephens, Shelbyville, IN; and Amber Polston, Shelbyville, IN. Grandchildren are Ben (Kai) Lee-Polston, Trin (Luna) Stephens, Luna Polston, Carman Polston, Kendyl Polston, Cora Stephens, and Nathan Stephens. Great-grandchildren are Anakin Stephens, and Desmond Stephens. Traci’s grieving mother is Karen Howell; her father, Kenneth Dovenbarger, preceded her in death. Traci’s siblings survive. They are Kenny (Lisa) Dovenbarger, Bloomington, IN; Jim Dovenbarger, Cincinnati, OH; Todd Dovenbarger, of OH; Mike (Jennifer) Dovenbarger, Greenfield, IN; Tammy Parsons, Greenfield, IN; and Carla (Doug) Flynn, of Bloomington, IN. Her beloved in-laws include Mark (Paula Kaster) Polston, and their many children and grandchildren; Steve (Michael Schrettenbrunner) Polston; and Rebecca J. Polston.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be 1 p.m., Friday, April 17, at Victory Fellowship, 2535 S. Miller Street, Shelbyville, with Pastor Mark Joplin officiating. Visitation is from 11 a.m. until the time of the service, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Traci Polston Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home.
