Thomas "Tom" Oliver Paterson, 89, of rural Argos, passed away February 21, 2026, at 5:27 p.m. at his residence in Argos.
On October 19, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, Tom was born to Robert Thomas Paterson and Florence (Lungren) Paterson. He had lived in the Argos community since 1966.
On February 10, 1981, in Bradenton, Florida he married Ruth Belle Fear and together they shared the next 42 years before her passing on September 7, 2023.
Tom was a self-employed truck driver. He was a graduate of Liberty High School, Valparaiso, Indiana and was a member of the Warsaw Speedway Hall-of-Fame. Tom had a lifetime passion for stock car racing.
Tom is survived by his Children – Terri Brandt and husband Rey of Plymouth; Tom Paterson of Argos; Rob Paterson of South Bend; and Tim Paterson and wife Shalon of Plymouth
Step-Children – Karen Smith and husband Tracy of Argos, and Lowell Hollar and wife Susan of Argos, Indiana
5 Grandchildren, 8 Step-Grandchildren, and 11 Step-Great Grandchildren
He is preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, Sons – Jim Paterson and Bill Paterson, Sister Roberta Larson
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday March 3, 2026, from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. at Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos, Indiana. Memorial Funeral Services will follow at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Jordan Ickes of the Etna Green Church of Christ.
