Thomas J. Duncan, 91, of Quincy, Indiana, formerly Greencastle, passed away peacefully in his home with his wife and children by his side on June 8, 2026.
Tom was born in Addison, Alabama on July 1,1934. He was the son of John Duncan and Ida (Bryson) Duncan. Tom was raised by his grandfather, until his passing, when Tom was a preteen. At that point, Tom became captain of his own ship, navigating a childhood of loss, survival and overcoming. At proper age, Tom enlisted in the United States Navy, serving 12 years, fighting in the Vietnam and Korean Wars, and eventually reaching rank of BM3. Tom played semi pro baseball in Memphis, Tennessee, and coached youth baseball for many years there. He managed the cutting department at Levi Strauss, and many others across the southern states, until he landed at TechnoTrim in Greencastle in 1988, from which he retired in 1999. Tom was the friendly face behind the counter at Rairdon's Tobacco Shop in Greencastle for many years after retirement.
Tom was a friendly, yet straightforward man. He loved reading, baseball, Alabama football, hunting, fishing, and all things outdoors. In his later years, he enjoyed simply watching the birds and animals from his patio door. Tom lived a full life of almost 92 years, traveling the world, fishing any and every lake and pond he could access, loving and being loved by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Tom is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kathy, and his children John Wiseman (Vick) White House, TN, Margie Littleton (Mark) Caruthersville, MO, Jeff Duncan (Allyson) Munford, TN, John Duncan (Brittany) Greencastle, IN, Jason Duncan (Amber) Cloverdale, IN, Tara Sanders (Kurt) Cloverdale, IN, 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
