Ronald “Ron” Mack Caldwell, age 57, passed away on October 6th, 2026, in Rockton, Illinois.

It is with profound sadness and immeasurable love that I share the passing of my husband, Ronald “Ron” Mack Caldwell, age 57, on October 6th, 2026, in Rockton, Illinois.

Ron was born on January 13th, 1969, in Lawrenceville, Illinois.  He spent his early years in St. Francisville before moving to Lawrenceville as a young child.  He graduated from Lawrenceville high school and later attended Illinois State university.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Ray Caldwell.

He leaves behind those who loved him most: his wife Kristine Caldwell; his son, Jackson Caldwell; his daughter, Reagan Caldwell; his mother Mary Jo Caldwell (Sowder); his brothers, James Caldwell and wife Kathy (Gullett), Richard Caldwell, Joseph Caldwell and wife Mary Beth (Chausse); his sister, Joyce Tussey (Caldwell) and husband Kevin; along with 12 nieces and nephews and 14 great-nieces and great-nephews.

Throughout his career, Ron built a successful path in the hospitality industry, earning promotions and leadership opportunities through hard work, determination, and the relationships he built with others. He took pride in his work, but what truly defined him was not a job title.  It was the way he connected with people.

Music was one of Ron’s greatest passions and gifts.  From a young age, he shared his talents as a pianist and accompanist for his high school choir.  He later directed musical performances for the United Methodist Church in St. Francisville and throughout the community.  Music was never simply a hobby for Ron.  It was a way he connected with others and brought joy to those around him.

One of his proudest accomplishments was earning a place with Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps in 1990.  The Corps achieved a fourth-place finish that year, and it remained a memorable achievement throughout his life.

Beyond music, Ron loved reading, great movies, and learning about history, especially the World War II era.  He also had a special love for dogs, particularly Labrador Retrievers, and often shared fond memories of his beloved dog, Dallas.

Of all the things Ron accomplished, nothing meant more to him than his family.

He was incredibly proud of Jackson and the young man he’s become.  He loved watching his son grow and was always eager to celebrate his accomplishments.  Reagan was truly Daddy’s girl and brought endless joy to his life.  Their bond was special, and anyone who knew them could see how much they loved each other.

As his wife, I was blessed to share a deep and enduring love with Ron.  He was my best friend, my greatest source of strength, and the person I wanted beside me through every chapter of life. Together, we built a life centered on love, faith, family, and friendship.  Our song was Then by Brad Paisley, and it will always remind me of the life we shared and memories we created together.

Ron also treasured his friendships.  He loved his friends like family and valued those relationships deeply.  He was loyal, thoughtful, and always willing to offer encouragement, support, or simply a listening ear.  The many lifelong friendships he leaves behind are a reflection of the impact he had on those fortunate enough to know him.

Above all, Ron will be remembered for his faith, his love of music, his gift for writing, his devotion to family and friends, and his kind and thoughtful heart.  He touched countless lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Ron will be laid to rest on Sunday, October 25th, 2026.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 501 Main Street, St. Francisville, Illinois 62460.  A memorial service will follow at 2:30 p.m., with a committal service immediately afterward at Oak Lawn Cemetery, 1473 Pulleyville Road, St. Francisville, Illinois 62460.

All family members, friends, and members of the community are welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of St. Francisville.
