Richard M. Moorhead, 89, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Willows of Shelbyville.
He was born December 19, 1935, in Shelbyville, IN to Warren Moorhead and Laura (Patterson) Moorhead.
Richard graduated from Shelbyville High School with the Class of 1955. He was a very proud winner of the 1954 McKeand Award for football excellence at SHS. After graduation he joined the United States Navy and honorably served his country from 1955-1959. When he returned home, he began his career with Costal Corporation Pipeline and retired from there with over 30 years of service. Richard enjoyed woodworking. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family and attending all the extracurricular activities and sporting events for his sons and grandchildren.
He married Barbara K. Moorhead on June 10, 1956 and they spent 69 loving years of marriage together and she survives.
He is also survived by his sons, Rick Moorhead, Randy (wife, Debbie) Moorhead and Rob (wife, Sandy) Moorhead; his granddaughter, Brittany (husband, Tony) Knarr; his grandsons, Tyler (wife, Madison) Moorhead and Kaleb Moorhead; his great-grandchildren, Sophia Knarr, Lyla Knarr, Asa Knarr and Claire Moorhead and his sister, Karen (husband, Gorden) Coffey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Judy Tolen.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date.
