Noel E. Hasler, age 92, of Bridgeport, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at his residence.
Noel E. Hasler, age 92, of Bridgeport, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at his residence. He was born August 14, 1933, in Richland County, Illinois, the son of O. Harlie Hasler and Vera L. Heckler Hasler. He married Bonnie Puntney on June 1, 1956, and she passed January 27, 2019.
Noel worked for many years as a backhoe operator at Marathon, and following his retirement, he continued doing the same with Moore Brothers. He attended New Hope Christian Church in Bridgeport. Noel proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He enjoyed gardening and took great pride in caring for his home and mowing his yard. Noel was a loyal fan of the Chicago Bears and the St. Louis Cardinals. He treasured time spent with his family and rarely missed an event involving his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He coached Little League Football, worked the chains at Bridgeport/Red Hill football games, and served his community as a volunteer fireman with the Bridgeport Fire Department.
Noel loved reading novels, especially mysteries and detective stories. He enjoyed going out to eat with his family and was always the first to insist on paying for the meal. He also found great joy in mushroom hunting. Above all, he will be remembered by his children for the devoted and loving care he provided to their mother.
Preceding Noel in death were his parents; wife, Bonnie; sisters, June Schultz, Wanda Prullege, and Kathryn Hasler.
Survivors include children, Rick (Cindy) Hasler of Bridgeport; Christina Ginder of Effingham, Illinois; Anthony Hasler of Woodland, California; brother Lloyd Hasler of Lawrenceville; four grandchildren, Jesse Ginder, Cole Ginder, Adrienne (Justin) Vanderbilt, Katie (Jeremy)
Hasler Peissig; four great-grandchildren, Kaylie Ginder, Korbin Noel Ginder, Alena Vanderbilt, Cora Vanderbilt; an adopted daughter in his heart, Deb Ayers of Bridgeport.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 28, 2026, 1:00 p.m. at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. till the service hour of 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Orio Cemetery.
