Karen “Sue” Ducharme, age 78, of Flat Rock, Illinois passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana.
Karen “Sue” Ducharme, age 78, of Flat Rock, Illinois passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. She was born on January 29, 1947 in Vincennes, Indiana, the daughter of Kenneth Hoke, Sr. and Rose Moyes Hoke. She married Samuel Parker on October 20, 1964 and he preceded her in death on September 24, 1994. In 1998, Sue married James Ducharme, and he survives.
Sue retired from Golden Rule Insurance Company. She was a devoted member of Grace United Methodist Church near Palestine, Illinois. In her earlier years, Sue enjoyed fishing on the river with her husband, Sam, and she proudly spent many years supporting her sons by taking them to wrestling meets. She found joy in sewing for others, making jewelry, dining out at various restaurants, and thrift shopping with her dear sister, Anita. Above all, Sue was a loving caregiver to her family. Her greatest gift was her unwavering devotion to caring for everyone around her.
Preceding Sue in death were her parents; spouse Samuel Parker; one sister, Jeannie Kay Hoke.
Survivors include her husband, James Ducharme; two sons, Sam Parker, Jr., of Russellville and Steve (Tammy) Parker of Lawrenceville; two brothers, Kenny (Nancy) Hoke and Terry (Laura) Hoke, both of rural Lawrenceville; three sisters, Peggy Jo Gilliatt of Lawrenceville, Anita (Sean) Roberts of Palm Bay, Florida, and Donna Divine of Newburgh, Indiana; three grandchildren Trevor Parker, Tyler (Madison) Parker, and Ethan Morehead; and three great-grandchildren, Kaden Land, Penelope Nidey, and Waylon W. Parker.
Private services will be conducted. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
