Janet E. Gunter, 90, Rochester, passed away at 3:10 A.M. Friday, October 2, 2026 at her residence.
She was born on March 17, 1936 in Gilead, Indiana the daughter of Vern Montro and Dora (Wilson) Dillman. She graduated from Fulton High School, Fulton, Indiana where she had been a majorette and active in 4-H. On July 18, 1954 at the Fulton United Methodist Church, she married Ralph L. Gunter. He preceded her in death on January 27, 2023.
Janet had worked as a bookkeeper at Kaiser Chemical in Fulton, Indiana. She had also worked as a tax preparer and as a seamstress. She was a member of the Riverview Community Church where she was part of the Keenagers Club. In her leisure time she enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, antiques, puzzles, researching family genealogy, and being a dedicated mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Rodney (Isabel) Gunter, Peru, Indiana, Connie Reffitt (Russell Oberg) Macy, Indiana, Mark Gunter, Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Jennifer (Brandon) Seyer, Mentone, Indiana, seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, sister, Carol Wray, Frankfort, Indiana, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter, Stephnie Jo Reffitt, sisters, Betty Rogers, Marilyn Craft, Joan Landis, Joyce Marburger, Letta Goodman, Judy Ladson, Karon Hoover, and brother, Vern Dillman.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 A.M. Friday, October 9, 2026 at Riverview Community Church, 3780 Indiana State Road 110, Tippecanoe, Indiana. Friends may visit from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, October 8, 2026 at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana and one hour prior to service Friday at the church. Burial will be in the Fulton Cemetery, Fulton, Indiana.
