Claire Kay Morris Talbert, 87, of Bedford, formerly Morristown

Claire Kay Morris Talbert, of Bedford, Indiana, passed away on 14 July 2026 at the age of 87.  

She was born March 25, 1939, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Otis Vanvert Morris and Clair K. Bowman Morris.

Claire was a graduate of Morristown High School, Class of 1957. On February 16, 1958, she married Dennis “Bud” R. Talbert, with whom she shared many years of marriage until his passing on February 23, 2011. Claire was a devoted homemaker, bookkeeper for Bud’s Excavating and the farm, and also worked at Fountaintown Gas. She was a member of Little Blue River Friends Church in Rush County.

Claire’s life was centered around her family. She is survived by her children, Brian Talbert and his wife, Sherry; Thomas Talbert and his wife, Diana; her daughter-in-law, Susan Kirk, widow of her late son, Todd Talbert; Bruce Talbert and his wife, Michelle; and Hope Nett and her husband, Jon.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Josh Talbert and his wife, Danielle; Lissa Talbert; Sara Talbert and her wife, Tiffany; Aaron Talbert and his wife, Hope Bond; Katie Talbert and her fiancé, Ben Grossberg; Kristin Lehman and her husband, Joshua; Evelyn Nett; Vivienne Nett; Samuel Nett; Elijah Nett; and Miriam Nett.

Claire was blessed with ten great-grandchildren: Bryson Talbert, Benjamin Talbert, Gabriel Talbert, Elliott Talbert, Wyatt Talbert, Logan Lehman, Landon Lehman, Cameron Lehman, Chloe Lehman, and Erica Lehman.

She is further survived by her sister, Marjorie Roberts and her husband, Donald and brother, Steve Kennedy.

Claire was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis “Bud” R. Talbert; her son, Todd E. Talbert; her parents, Otis Vanvert Morris and Clair K. Bowman Morris; her sister, Janice Willsey; and her sister-in-law, Linda Kennedy.

Burial will take place at Asbury Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm, Friday, July 17, 2026 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 124 E. North St., in Morristown.

Funeral services will be at 11 am, Saturday, July 18, 2026 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church of your choice or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Claire will be remembered for her devotion to family, her faith, and the steady love she gave to those around her.
