Charlene Rae Loy, 83, of Rosedale, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Clinton Gardens.

She was a homemaker.

She was born December 16, 1942, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to the late Charles Omer Frazier and Bertha Marie Cuthbertson Frazier.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Dan E. Loy of Rosedale, whom she married October 18, 1961, in Rosedale; three daughters, Leesa Virostko of Rosedale, Joni (Joe) King of Bridgeton, and Tia Loy of Rosedale; two brothers, Leslie (Marlene) Frazier of Rockville and Randy Frazier of Clinton; one sister, Bonnie (Jim) Craft of Coxville; six grandchildren, Abby (Luke) Purcell, Ali Robertson, Jacob (Leslie) King, Joshua (Katie) King, Daniel (Caitlin) Gauer, and Keegan (Bailey) Gauer; seven great-grandchildren, Lucy Purcell, Reagan Purcell, Blaine Purcell, Jett King, Oliver Carr, Lottie Gauer, and Isla Gauer; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Smith; her brother-in-law, Maurice Smith; and her sister-in-law, Vickie Frazier.

Charlene was a 1960 graduate of Rosedale High School. She worked at the Sears & Roebuck Catalog Store in Rockville and later at the Rosedale IGA Deli. She was a talented seamstress who lovingly made her daughters’ clothes when they were young, along with many Barbie doll outfits. She was a wonderful cook who enjoyed preparing meals for her family. Charlene loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Everyone around her loved her like a mom or grandma, as she had a special way of making each person feel loved and important.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Cottrell-Gooch Funeral Home, 281 N. Main Street, Rosedale, with Pastor Jacob Guinn officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Rosedale Cemetery.

Memorials should friends so desire, may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601, in Charlene’s memory.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Cottrell-Gooch Funeral Home, Rosedale.
