The Winamac Volunteer Fire Department’s fire truck is 30 years old.
Young for a person. Not so much for a fire truck.
The fire truck no longer meets performance standards needed for firefighting and rescue. That's why, through the Winamac Town Board, a down payment has been made toward the purchase of a new truck. However, the remaining balance will need the help of fundraising efforts.
The Winamac Volunteer Fire Department will host an open house on Wednesday with tours of the station and more on the efforts to raise the $400,000 to replace the current truck that was purchased in 1994.
Donations can be delivered to the Winamac town office in person or by mail. For more information, call (574) 946-3451.
Wednesday's open house at the fire station is 4 - 6 p.m.
