Just after 8:40 a.m. Sunday, a Knox County Sheriff's deputy was patrolling in Bicknell when he saw a male with an active arrest warrant.
Lonnie Joe Haney entered a residence on Bruceville Avenue. Other deputies arrived on the scene and went to the residence. They spoke to a female at the residence, later identified as Melissa VanPatten, who told deputies that Haney had already run from the residence. VanPatten refused to let the deputies look inside her residence to confirm Haney had left.

A search warrant was obtained and executed on the property and Lonnie Joe Haney was located hiding in the basement of the residence.
Haney was taken into custody on the active Class A misdemeanor warrant for Failure To Appear for OWI with endangerment. Vanpatten was also arrested and transported to the jail where she was booked in for assisting a criminal fugitive, A Class A misdemeanor.
