United Way of Knox County Day of Caring Set for September 17–18

United Way of Knox County will bring volunteers together across the community for its annual Day of Caring on Thursday and Friday.

Day of Caring connects local businesses, organizations, students, and community members with service projects benefiting nonprofits, schools, and other organizations throughout Knox County. Volunteers will assist with projects such as painting, landscaping, cleanup, organizing, food collection, and other facility improvements.

“Day of Caring is a great example of what can happen when our community comes together,” said Scott Charleston, Executive Director of United Way of Knox County. “In just two days, volunteers are able to complete projects that make a real difference for organizations serving Knox County throughout the year.”

The event will also include a community food drive at participating locations throughout Knox County. Food collection will take place

Thursday, September 17 from 4:00–7:00 p.m. and Friday, September 18 from 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Donations will benefit local food pantries and families experiencing food insecurity.

More than 540 volunteers participated last year, making Day of Caring one of United Way of Knox County’s largest annual community service events.

United Way of Knox County wants to thank the volunteers, businesses, sponsors, schools, nonprofit partners, and community organizations helping make the 2026 Day of Caring possible.
