Matchsellers are profoundly serious musicians with incredible bluegrass chops. Andrew’s breakneck guitar picking and Julie’s amazing fiddling never fail to enthrall. Next, add the quirky lyrics, tight harmonies, and spirited showmanship, and you will have as powerful a performing experience as you are likely to have in these parts. Adding to the mix, they are bringing two notably seasoned musicians to help sell the whole shooting match, including Brian McCarty, a polished mandolin player, and the fine jazz bassist Brandon Day. For a group that started small, the Matchsellers have taken the world by storm, appearing on NPR’s Mountain Stage, at the John Hartford Memorial Festival, and on stages and performing venues across the United States. As for the name, The Matchsellers, that’s taken from a painting by the German artist Otto Dix circa 1920 – another throwback to the Brechtian era.
The Matchsellers will be performing in concert and for a live studio taping of the Wild Rose Moon Radio Hour on Saturday, May 25th, from 7 to 9 p.m. This is a unique opportunity to experience their music in a live setting and be part of a studio audience.
Tickets are available for $20 and can be purchased at www.wildrosemoon.com. Don't miss out on this guaranteed treat – a performance that combines thought-provoking music with a whole lot of fun!
