The Sumner City Council has agreed to enter into a one-year contract renewal with the South Lawrence Water Corporation. The move was made to accept the agreement with no changes to the previous terms for the city. The water rate will remain at $3.00 per 1000 gallons of use through 2025. The vote occurred upon the recommendation of City Administrator Travis Trainer, who was part of the negotiations on the extension.
In a related note, Trainer did indicate that the city is looking at a mutual agreement with the cities of Lawrenceville and Bridgeport for providing water service in case of emergency in the future. No firm details have yet been worked out.
