A new water sale contract with the South Lawrence Water Corporation has been approved in action Wednesday night by the St Francisville City Council.
The temporary agreement calls for the bulk sale of water to South Lawrence at a rate of $2.20 per 1,000 gallons, up from the previous rate of $1.80.
The 6-month contract will be in effect until a city water study can be completed.
The council also approved moving forward with the application process to get some grant funding for necessary maintenance of the city water tower. Grant writer Tracy Swanson will assist the city in seeking $500,000 for the work.
Mayor Mark Boren reported that the $11.7 million Cannonball Bridge project continues to move forward and is now about 58% completed.
The mayor is expected to attend a meeting of the England Pond Drainage District commissioners regarding the seeking of an increase in the annual maintenance assessments for land in the district. That meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Denison firehouse in St. Francisville.
