Sheriff Hassel releases October Jail & Sheriff's Dept. Report

Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hassel released the October 2025 Jail report this week, which includes the top ten offenses for bookings in the County Jail.

Topping the list at number one was Failure to Appear with 29 arrests.  Operating While Intoxicated was second with 27 arrests, and Possession of Marijuana was third with 21 arrests.  Operator Never Licensed was fourth with 20 bookings, and Driving While Suspended was fifth with 14 bookings.  There were 11 arrests in October for Probation Violations, putting it sixth on the list, and Resisting Law Enforcement was tied with 11 arrests in seventh place.  Rounding out the top ten arresting offenses were Possession of Paraphernalia, which was eighth with 9 arrests, Battery was ninth with 9 arrests, and Possession of Cocaine or narcotic was tenth with 6 bookings.

There was a total of 162 bookings in October, with Community Corrections having 1 arrest.  Bremen Police Officers made 2 arrests, and Culver Police had 3.  Officers with the Bourbon Police Department arrested 6 people in October, while Argos officers had 7 arrests, and troopers with the Indiana State Police made 10 arrests.   Plymouth Police Officers arrested 65 individuals in October, and deputies with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department had 68 arrests. 

Jail count day was November 7^th, and there were 141 inmates, with 113 males and 28 females.  Of the 141 inmates, 5 were serving time for misdemeanor charges, and 31 were serving time with felony charges.  88 pre-trial inmates were being held.  13 were awaiting arraignment, and 4 were being held for other agencies. 

The average daily population of the jail in October was 141. Six months earlier, in April, the daily average population was 139, and one year earlier, in October 2024, the average population was 135.

Officers with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department investigated 111 accidents in October.  94 accidents were property damage, 16 involved personal injury, and there was 1 fatality. County Officers initiated 73 case reports, issued 73 warnings or citations, and conducted 8 security checks.

The Marshall County Central Dispatch Center answered 5,873 calls in October, and out of that number, 1,473 were 911 calls. Sheriff’s deputies also responded to 1,283 calls for service.
