Shelbyville High School held its Senior Awards Program Monday at Breck Auditorium to honor the graduating Class of 2026.
More than 60 awards and scholarships were distributed totaling approximately $3.8 million, according to Shelbyville Superintendent Dr. Matt Vance.
“Each of our students awarded and recognized tonight as well as the members of the Class of 2026 at large are to be commended for their hard work and efforts throughout their years at Shelbyville High School,” said Dr. Vance. “We are so proud of your past achievements, your current accolades and your future endeavors.”
Julie Alvis, Communications and Scholarships Director for the Blue River Community Foundation, presented 23 separate scholarships to Shelbyville’s senior class.
Previously announced but recognized at the awards program was Mylez Clark as the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship winner. He will attend Butler University in the fall.
The John F. Stickford Nursing Scholarship was presented to Sydney Brown, who will attend Indiana Wesleyan University in the fall. The scholarship is worth $56,000 toward her education.
Other notable award winners were:
- Louis & Mary J. Abstine Scholarship was presented to Hannah Baker.
- City of Shelbyville Scholarship was presented to Riley Everette. Her father is Shelbyville firefighter Cody Everette.
- George F. Kent Scholarship was presented to Aiden Alton. He will attend Notre Dame in the fall.
- Rotary Club of Shelbyville Scholarship and the Wanda Hindman Memorial Nursing Scholarship was given to Reese Fortune. She will attend Southern Indiana University in the fall.
- Shelbyville Lions Club Blue River Scholarship went to Aerin Garcia-Santiago.
- Gary Oldham Jr. Memorial Scholarship was presented to Emma Claxton.
- Shelbyville Kiwanis Club Clyde Yater Scholarship was given to Thomas Blocher.
- Nolan T. Parker Scholarship was given to Diego Hernandez.
- Robert Zimny Football Scholarship went to Gavin Reed.
- SCS Board of Trustees Scholarship was presented to Ariana Massie.
- SCUFFY scholarship was given to Megan Childres.
- SHS Student Council Scholarships went to Arica Crose and Sydney Brown.
- The Salvation Army First Generation Donald Miller Hope Scholarship went to Peyton Rodriguez.
“It has truly been a pleasure to watch these students go through four years of high school,” said Vance.
