A Shelbyville man was one of 22 arrests made in a multi-day “Child Predator Sting Operation.”
The Johnson County Sheriff's Office, in partnership with the Franklin Police Department, Edinburgh Police Department, Greenfield Police Department, and the Johnson County Prosecutor's Office, carried out the latest operation in a series of ongoing efforts to identify, arrest, and charge individuals attempting to exploit and victimize children.
From Sept. 24-26, a total of 22 individuals were arrested for charges including: child solicitation, possession of a controlled substance, public indecency, and driving offenses. These arrests are the latest in a series of sting operations where law enforcement previously arrested 10 individuals in December 2020, 8 in April 2021, 11 in May 2022, 20 in November 2022, and 32 in April 2023.
Among the 22 arrests in this most recent sting was Brian George, 58, of Shelbyville, for a Level 4 Felony charge of child solicitation.
"We continue to act with urgency to prevent these individuals from harming children," said Sheriff Duane Burgess. "Each arrest we make is one less predator in our community, and that’s a step toward ensuring the safety of our children."
Prosecutor Lance Hamner echoed this commitment, adding, "These operations are essential to stopping child exploitation. Our partnership with law enforcement allows us to not only arrest these individuals but also hold them accountable through the judicial process."
