What began as a dream to bring families together in a safe and kid friendly manner has come to an end, according to event organizers.
Greencastle Second Saturday, which were started by Andy and Susan Lorimer, will no longer be taking place.
In a Facebook post this week, organizers pointed to the "unfortunate loss of Susan Lorimer, the magical woman who started it all" as a reason for the events stopping.
"We appreciate everyone's understanding and we have enjoying participating in all the smiling faces and joy that has happened throughout the last several years on Indiana Street in downtown Greencastle since April of 2018," the post read.
Wes Kendall, minister at Greencastle Presbyterian Church, was also instrumental in the event and confirmed the news to The Putnam County Post.
"Susan was just such a key part of this ministry and community blessing. Andy kept it going to honor her a bit this past year, but I know it's been a lot trying to run his business and find volunteers to staff things like this. I've been really blessed to see how much of a good thing this has been for our community. Perhaps, someone will take the idea and run with it in a new way," Kendall said.
