Monday night, Congressman Rudy Yakym (IN-02) introduced House Resolution 1268, a resolution expressing support for the designation of the week of June 2-8, 2024 as “National Trailer Safety Week” in the United States. Representatives Tim Burchett (R-TN), John Garamendi (D-CA), and Sanford Bishop (D-GA) joined Yakym in introducing the bipartisan resolution.
“I am proud to introduce this resolution to bring renewed attention to the importance of trailer safety,” said Congressman Yakym. “Manufacturers I represent in northern Indiana produce a wide range of trailers, whether towable RVs, cargo trailers, horse trailers, and more. Raising awareness about proper towing techniques is essential to ensuring everyone can continue to enjoy the benefits of trailers and helping make our roadways safer for all Americans.”
“The National Association of Trailer Manufacturers is honored that Representatives Yakym, Burchett, Garamendi and Bishop all brought forth this proclamation," said Alex Stowe, National Association of Trailer Manufacturers (NATM) Executive Director. "Trailer Safety Week aims to make our roadways safer for all Americans, and I am incredibly appreciative of this resolution. With nearly one million new trailers entering our nation’s roadways annually, trailer safety education is vitally important for making sure that all individuals, whether they are towing a boat for a weekend getaway or a utility trailer to a job site, have the information they need to safely tow their trailer."
