Pursuit, arrest of motorcycle rider in Kosciusko County

A Claypool man was arrested after a pursuit with Indiana State Police and local authorities.

Just before 7:30 a.m. Friday, an Indiana State Police trooper was on patrol in Kosciusko County and was using his stationary radar.  At that time, the trooper observed a Harley-Davidson motorcycle traveling 26 miles per hour over the posted speed limit.  After observing the violation, the trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop with his emergency lights and siren.  The driver of the motorcycle then slowed down, conducted a U-turn, and sped off at a high rate of speed.  A pursuit was then initiated, and the driver eventually abandoned his motorcycle on the east side of County Road 500 West near the intersection of County Road 900 South.

The suspect then fled on foot through a nearby corn field.  Law enforcement personnel then set up a perimeter where the suspect was eventually located during a K-9 track.  Upon locating the suspect within the cornfield, the suspect was given loud verbal commands and was placed in custody without incident.  The suspect was then identified as Franklin Seeley, 53, of Claypool.  Seeley was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail for: resisting law enforcement with a vehicle (Level 6 felony), resisting law enforcement (Class A misdemeanor), and driving while suspended-prior (Class A misdemeanor).

Indiana State Police were assisted by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and Mentone Police Department.
