Purdue Extension will be hosting two workshops focused on food preservation. Individuals can attend to learn more about preserving food safely at home.
The first workshop will be on May 30th from 12:00 - 5:00 PM at the Unity Garden at 3701 Prast Boulevard in South Bend. The topic of the day will be “Boiling Water Bath Canning” and will focus on making salsa. The workshop will feature a lecture, hands-on practice with equipment, and a take-home product made that day. Individuals will learn how to use boiling water bath canning equipment, safety on canning, and be able to ask questions. The second workshop will be hosted at the Middlebury Public Library, 101 East Winslow Street and will cover “Pressure Canning”. This workshop will be held on June 19th, from 10:00AM to 3:00 PM. The workshop will feature a lecture, hands-on practice with equipment, and a take-home product made that day. Individuals will learn how to use a pressure canner to preserve food and discuss food safety. The cost of this workshop is $30. To register visit https://cvent.me/MZRRbw by June 11th.
