Plymouth School Board receives facilities update, plans $450,000 roofing project

Last week, members of the Plymouth Community School Board received the annual facilities and maintenance update from Troy Amor.

The upcoming projects for the 2026-2027 school year include replacing the evaporator coil on air handler #1 due to ongoing leaks from a lightning strike on the system in 2024 at the Lincoln Education Center.

At Washington Elementary School, crews will replace approximately 14' x 50' of gym floor that sustained water damage. They will also sand the entire floor, replace the lines and the Wildcat mascot on the floor before resealing it. A chiller will also be replaced.

Projects at Webster Elementary School include getting quotes to replace the condensing coils on air handling unit #2 and replacing the evaporator coils as well. Amor said the replacement is necessary due to the age of the unit and the obsolete refrigerant.

At Menominee Elementary School, maintenance plans to replace the chiller due to age and a slow refrigerant leak in the bundle.

Plymouth High School's work for the 2026-27 school year includes the installation of new switchgear due to age. There is also a roofing project. The membrane on 37 roofs was installed in 2011, and the warranty expires in October 2026. Maintenance is considering restoring roof #30 above the main gym to prevent leaks and protect the gym renovation. Amor proposed restoring the roof with a liquid membrane that has a 15-year warranty, and is more environmentally friendly and cost-effective. The budget for this roofing project is $450,000.

Amor also reviewed the 2025 maintenance tickets by school. He said, "Work tickets help us keep documentation, prioritize, and maintain workflow. I'm proud of the work the maintenance department has done. They have really come together to work as a team to accomplish tasks in a timely manner."

There were a total of 1,638 maintenance tickets divided between 11 facilities: • Administration: 21 • Jefferson Elementary: 101 • Lincoln Education Center: 84 • Lincoln Junior High: 257 • Menominee Elementary: 100 • Multipurpose: 1 • Plymouth High School: 729 • Riverside Intermediate School: 146 • Service Center: 51 • Washington Elementary: 80 • Webster Elementary: 68

Amor discussed the abundance of excess property and equipment the schools have stored and no longer need or want. In the coming months, he will seek approval to auction off the surplus furniture and equipment.
