The Plymouth Community School Board wrapped up its search for a new board member Thursday evening, unanimously appointing Jamie Borden to fill the at-large vacancy left when Allie Shook resigned to become director of the North Central CTE Program.
The special meeting got off to a delayed start, opening approximately 21 minutes late while the board waited for members Stacy Patrick and Steve Holm. When the meeting began, only Robin Cupka and Lisa Huff were present in person. Patrick participated remotely, appearing to be streamed via Superintendent Dr. Pamela Campbell's cell phone. Board member Steve Holm did not attend.
With three members present, the board voted unanimously to appoint Borden, who was among eight candidates interviewed earlier this week in two rounds of public interviews. Immediately following the selection, Borden was sworn in to office and took a seat at the table with other school board members.
In addition to the appointment, the board named Steve Holm — despite his absence — to serve as Vice President of the board, the position previously held by Shook. Holm was also selected to serve on the negotiating team for the upcoming teachers' contract.
The next regular Plymouth Community School Board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 7, at 6 p.m.
