The City of Plymouth is thrilled to announce that the Plymouth Municipal Airport has been awarded a $3,275,604 AIP grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This significant funding will be used to construct a new taxiway, enhancing the airport’s infrastructure and supporting its continued growth and development.
Mayor Robert Listenberger expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “This grant is a tremendous opportunity for our community. The new taxiway will not only improve the operational efficiency of our airport but also attract more business and tourism to Plymouth. We are grateful to the FAA for their support and investment in our city’s future.”
The new taxiway is expected to streamline aircraft movements on the ground, reduce congestion, and improve safety for all airport users. The project aligns with the city’s long-term vision of expanding and modernizing the Plymouth Municipal Airport to better serve the needs of residents, businesses, and visitors.
Airport Manager Bill Sheley added, “This funding is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team. We are committed to making the Plymouth Municipal Airport a premier facility in the region, and this new taxiway is a crucial step in that direction.”
Construction on the new taxiway is slated to begin later this year, with completion anticipated by mid-2025. The city will provide regular updates on the project’s progress and any potential impacts on airport operations.
