This week, the Plymouth Common Council unanimously accepted a donation to the Plymouth Ambulance Service from the estate of a late resident.
Clerk-Treasurer Lynn Gorski told council members the city had received a donation of $12,197.89 from the estate of Jim Mikalas, designated for the use of the ambulance service.
"This is the final distribution of the estate for which the Ambulance Service received one-quarter of Jim Mikalas's estate," Gorski said.
Gorski explained that accepting the donation carries restricted terms, conditions, and purposes attached to the gift. Once accepted, the funds will be receipted into the monetary gift fund for the Plymouth Ambulance Service.
Council members approved the donation by a unanimous 7-0 vote.
The acceptance formalizes the final transfer from Mikalas's estate to the city, completing a bequest that directed one-quarter of his estate to support the Plymouth Ambulance Service.
