On Monday evening, the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety took a major step toward improving local infrastructure by opening bids for the city's 2026 Street Repaving Projects.
Three regional companies submitted proposals for the extensive paving work. E & B Paving of Rochester submitted the lowest bid at $1,847,750.69. Milestone Contractors of South Bend followed with a bid of $2,032,643.98, while Rieth-Riley Construction, also of South Bend, submitted the highest bid at $2,167,900.
The 2026 paving season will cover several key roadways across the city. The planned street projects include:
- Harrison Street from Oak Drive to Plum Street
- Harrison Street from Plum Street to Michigan Street
- Parkview Street from the dead end to Michigan Street
- Center Street from Novelty Street to Parkview Street
- Adams Street from Plum Street to Michigan Street
- Madison Street from Fifth Street to the railroad crossing at Broadway Street
- Kenwood Avenue from Oak Drive to Sycamore Street
- Sycamore Street from Lake Avenue to Seventh Street
- Nutmeg Road from Discovery Lane to Oakhill Avenue
In addition to the city streets, the final paving project on the docket is for the Plymouth Park Department, which will see improvements to the Price's Pond driveway and parking area.
The board has taken all bids under advisement to allow for a thorough review by City Engineer Dan Sellers. Sellers is expected to present his final recommendation to the Board of Public Works and Safety at their next scheduled meeting on Monday, April 27th.
