The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety has officially awarded the contract for the city's 2026 Street Repaving Projects to E & B Paving, following a recommendation from City Engineer Dan Sellers on Monday evening.
E & B Paving of Rochester secured the project with the lowest submitted bid. While their initial bid came in at $1,847,750.69, the removal of one project from the docket brought the final contract total down to $1,783,702.34.
To help fund the extensive infrastructure improvements, Sellers announced some welcome financial news: the city has been awarded a Community Crossing Matching Grant from the state for $717,095.80.
The 2026 paving season will cover several key roadways across Plymouth. The approved list of street projects includes:
- Harrison Street from Oak Drive to Plum Street
- Harrison Street from Plum Street to Michigan Street
- Parkview Street from the dead end to Michigan Street
- Center Street from Novelty Street to Parkview Street
- Adams Street from Plum Street to Michigan Street
- Madison Street from Fifth Street to the railroad crossing at Broadway Street
- Kenwood Avenue from Oak Drive to Sycamore Street
- Sycamore Street from Lake Avenue to Seventh Street
In addition to the city streets, the Plymouth Park Department is funding its own paving improvements. The department will cover the $49,580.79 cost to pave the driveway and parking area at Price's Pond.
One project originally slated for this year—Nutmeg Road from Discovery Lane to Oakhill Avenue—was pulled from the final contract. City Engineer Jeff Houin explained that the removal was necessary due to confusion at the state level regarding whether the road falls under city or county jurisdiction. The Nutmeg Road paving project is now expected to be completed in 2027 once the jurisdictional questions are resolved.
